Hall Neighborhood House offers several programs geared towards family strengthening, positive reinforcement, healthy recreation and the participation of strong role models for our youth. We offer quality programs to provide our young people with the care and support they need to succeed in life. This includes like life skills, mentoring, and supervised evening performing arts classes. Most recently we have become the Community Technology Center Site for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
Programming includes:
v Life Skill – structured counseling and activities to encourage independent living, and providing workshops in budgeting, credit, insurance, taxes, and other daily living areas. Students are counseled in how to personal relationships, parenting, health, and nutrition.
v Mentoring – Volunteers give back to the community by devoting personal time to making a difference in the lives of our young people. The program help our youth build and improve their self esteem; academics and social skills as well as improve relationships with their families and peers.
v College Prep – The Agency’s Smart Start program serves youth ages 14 – 18 and has been at Hall Neighborhood House for over 20 years. Youths are tutored and prepared for the PSAT, SAT and ACT tests. They visit local and out-of-state colleges to observe what the collegiate lifestyle has to offer and encourage them to further their education.
v Performing Arts – Hall Neighborhood House’s Performing Arts Program provides youths with the opportunity to access the arts through participation in and observation of drama, music and many forms of dance (e.g. ballet, modern, jazz, liturgical and theater dance). The program emphasizes self-expression as a means of instilling confidence and creativity to the youths. They learn discipline and responsibility which are skills they will use to reach their goals in life.
v NBSE, Jr. – The National Society of Black Engineer’s Pre-College Initiative program designed to promote college, academics, technology and leadership to pre-college students. The program composed of members and volunteers focuses on encouraging students to develop interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). NSBE has over 27,000 members worldwide and is the largest student-run organization in the country.
v Recreation & Wellness – Hall Neighborhood House/King’s Kids Basketball Team is involved in basketball leagues and tournaments through out the city and state. Our wellness clinic allows youth to participate in physical fitness and encourages good eating habits.
v buildOn – Hall Neighborhood House has established a partnership with buildOn which is a national and international youth development program focusing on after school programs, community service, global education, literacy and sponsorship of school construction in developing countries.
