Course Descriptions - 2005

Dance Academy

Modern/ Jazz (Ages 3-10)
This mostly modern class will focus on the basics of modern dance as well as the basics of jazz. This class will allow the students’ creative expression, while focusing on and fine-tuning their technique.

Ballet (Ages 3-10)
This class will focus on the basic techniques of ballet, foster creative expression and prepare the students to participate in the Liturgical dance class.


Theater Dance (Ages 11-18)
This class will also be mostly modern with a hint of jazz. The class will also maintain strong focus on theatrical performance. The class will perform in conjunction with the teen drama ensemble “Just Out There” for the performance at the end semester. The members of the class will be asked to also attend additional rehearsals up to twice a week.

Liturgical (Praise) Dance (upon request for groups only) (Ages 3-18)
This class will focus on spiritual dance for the sanctuary. Students must register for ballet to qualify for this class, as this class will draw from ballet for technique.

Theater Academy

Creative Dramatics (Ages 3-5)
Students have the opportunity to develop basic motor skills and cognitive skills by using their imagination in the world of theater.

Acting for Children (Ages 3-18)
Students will be introduced to the world of theater through numerous theater exercises. Students will awaken their creativity through improvisation games.

Improvisation (Ages 8-10)
Students will master their improvisation skill by developing plots, and eventually a full-length work.

Just Out There Teen Theater Ensemble (Ages 11-18)
The ensemble includes several components, including voice and speech, basic stage movement, acting, theater history, and production. The students will also have the opportunity to attend theater productions and talk to professionals in the industry.

Production / Technical Theater (Ages 11-18)
Students have the opportunity to learn about the basic technical aspects of theater and explore job opportunity in the field. Students will hone their skills by working on all the students’ production throughout the year.

Costume / Make - Up (Ages 11-18)
This class will focus on the training students to do makeup and costume design for stage. The students will develop costumes and do make for all of the performances.
